BYD karaoke mic not working? Troubleshooting guide

Identify what fails before changing settings: microphone power, voice through the speakers, music playback, the second microphone, or an app feature. Test while parked and change one thing at a time so you can tell what helped.

Microphone will not switch on

Charge using the cable and power requirements in the microphone manual. Inspect the cable and charging socket for visible damage. If available, try another known-working charging cable with the correct specification, then check the power-button instructions.

If the device becomes unusually hot or is damaged, disconnect it and contact support. Do not open the microphone or attempt battery repairs. A receiver light does not tell you whether the handheld microphone is charged.

Receiver lights up but there is no microphone sound

First lower the music and test your voice at a moderate level. Check microphone mute and the controls described in the kit manual. Then confirm that the receiver is fully inserted into a supported data port. A charge-only port may power the receiver without carrying audio.

Remove extra hubs and extensions for the test. If an adapter is needed, confirm it supports data. Follow the supplied pairing procedure rather than guessing button combinations from a different microphone model.

If power and pairing appear normal but the voice is still absent, collect your vehicle model, year, market, software version and receiver photo for support. The receiver may not be compatible with that system; repeated reconnecting cannot add missing support.

Only one microphone in a Duo kit works

Test each microphone separately with the same receiver and settings. Charge both and check each mute control. Note whether the problem follows one microphone or appears only when both are on.

Use the supplied two-microphone pairing instructions. Two unrelated Solo kits are not necessarily equivalent to a Duo set, and a separately purchased microphone may not join the receiver. Ask support before buying a replacement.

Whistling, echo or distorted voice

Turn the microphone level and effects down, move the microphone away from speakers, and avoid pointing it toward them. Bring volume back gradually. Feedback occurs when amplified sound is picked up again; increasing volume usually makes it worse.

Test with effects minimized and one audio source. If the sound is clear at lower levels, the issue may be gain balance rather than pairing. If distortion persists at moderate levels, report the settings and whether it affects one or both microphones.

Voice works but scoring or Perfect Pitch does not

Treat this as an advanced-feature question, not automatically a faulty microphone. Singing Machine documents dedicated hardware for its official BYD karaoke integration. Those capabilities are not established for every aftermarket receiver.

Check app, region and microphone requirements. DriveMic support for scoring and Perfect Pitch is not verified on this site. Do not install unofficial apps, flash receiver firmware or factory-reset the vehicle as a first troubleshooting step.

What to send support

Email support@bydmic.store with the order number if available, model and year, original vehicle market, software version, receiver photo, and the exact symptom. Describe whether music plays, whether voice is audible, and whether the problem began after an update.

Include the checks you have already tried. Avoid sharing passwords, payment details or an unredacted vehicle identity document. A clear symptom report is more useful than “karaoke does not work.”

Frequently asked questions

The receiver has a light. Is my USB port correct?

Not necessarily. A light can indicate power while the port or system still does not support receiver audio.

Should I reset my BYD to fix the microphone?

Do the power, data-port, pairing and compatibility checks first. Use a vehicle reset only if official vehicle support recommends it for your specific issue.
